Marcel Moonen MSc, was born on 27 March 1984 Lelystad, the Netherlands. He graduated cum laude in Architecture Theory & Urban Cultures at the University of Technology in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, on a design-project with peculiar focus on the representational aspect of Architecture. In 2008 he spent a year abroad at the Escuela técnica superior de arquitectura de Madrid, where he started his artistic investigation aside architecture. After his graduation in 2009 he worked fulltime as an architect in architectural offices as Rapp+Rapp (Amsterdam, Berlin), NFA - Nicolas Firket Architects (Brussels) and Wiel Arets Architects (Amsterdam, Berlin, Maastricht, Zurich).
Through his artistic research based on a technique of post-processing - going through a variety of bright and troubled eyes: photo, ink, paint, scan, monitor, print - Marcel Moonen questions the representation of our environment from within and without.
